The Walking Dead: Book One pages 31-60

After a long conversation with his new horse, Rick arrives in Atlanta.  Rick is surprised when he arrives by what must be hundreds of zombies populating the city.  Soon, the horde is coming after Rick and the horse.  The horse rears up and knocks Rick to the ground.  The horse falls, and falls prey to the zombie horde.  While they are distracted, Rick uses the opportunity to run into a clear alley, where he is taken to safety by a young Korean man.

The man, Glenn, takes him up a ladder to the top of a building.  They jump onto another building and climb down to a safe area.  They escape the city quickly, and Glenn tells Rick about his camp that is close to the city.  Soon, they arrive at the camp, and Rick is greeted by his wife, Lori, and son, Carl.  While they are reuniting, Rick sees his partner, Shane, who apparently was a big help to Lori and Carl in getting to the camp.  Glenn introduces Rick to Allen and Donna, and their twins, as well as Dale, an older man who keeps watch on an RV; Jim; Carol and her daughter Sophia; and sisters Amy and Andrea.

The next day, Rick wakes up and Shane tells him they would be going hunting that day.  Rick is told that the RV has a shower, and he jumps at the chance to take one.  In the RV, Rick runs into Dale, who tells Rick that Shane "has his eyes on Lori."  Rick dismisses this, regarding Dale as a crazy old man.  Rick and Shane set out into the forest to go hunting, while Lori, Carol, and Donna do the laundry.  Donna complains the entire time, thinking that women won't have any rights after this blows over, and that the women shouldn't have to do the laundry.

Rick and Shane spot a zombie eating a deer while hunting, and debate whether or not it would be safe for them to eat.

Back at the river, Lori tells Carol and Donna the story of how she and Rick met at a party.  They decided to go back to camp, but on their way there, a zombie attacks Donna.  Just in time, Dale swings an axe through the zombie's head, saving Donna's life.
