Andrea tries to go talk to Allen, whose wife has just been killed, but he has completely shut down on everyone, including his children, and snaps on Andrea. He yells at her, telling her she doesn't understand, and Andrea storms away, furious.
Later, Hershel wakes up Rick and Lori to tell them that Carl is awake. He says that his shoulder still hurts, but Hershel tells them that he will be fine. Sophia comes in to visit Carl, too, and kisses him on the cheek.
After dinner, Glenn talks to one of Hershel's daughters, Maggie. Glenn talks about how he is feeling lonely since everyone in his group seems to be pairing up with each other, and Maggie offers to "help him out."
Tyreese confronts his daughter, Julia, and her boyfriend, Chris, for what happened at the house in Wiltshire Estates. He tells them how dangerous it would be for Julia to get pregnant, and warns them to keep their hands to themselves.
Meanwhile, Rick and Hershel are having a chat about the farm, and Rick mentions that there is nowhere near enough space in the RV for all of his group to sleep, and asks Hershel if they could stay in his barn. Hershel warns Rick not to go in there, saying that that's where they keep their "dead ones." Rick thinks this is crazy, but Hershel insists that they need to keep them in there until they figure out how to help them. When Rick tells Hershel that he'd just been killing them, Hershel has a fit. Rick tries to explain that those things want to kill them, but Hershel doesn't listen. Hershel has his son and countless other family members in there, and Rick's idea of shooting all of the zombies in the barn is not welcomed by Hershel.
The next day, Rick is giving the whole group another shooting lesson. Rick spots a zombie in the distance, and just as he is about to shoot it, Hershel stops him. He walks over and brings the zombie to the barn. As he unlatches the door, all of the zombies stampede out. Lacey and Arnold, Hershel's son and daughter, are bitten in their efforts to save him, and in the chaos Hershel finally realizes what has happened and kills all the zombies that had come out of the barn.
