The Walking Dead: Book One pages 181-210

The next day, Rick and the group go out to explore the town in a search for any supplies.  Chris and Julie, the dating teenagers, decide to stay in the house because they're scared.  Tyreese, Donna, and Allen form a group, and Donna decides to peek inside one of the houses.  Just as she is making fun of her husband, Allen, for worrying about her too much, a zombie comes from behind her and bites her in the face.  Allen, in a panic, fires his gun randomly and this catches the attention of all the zombies in the entire town.  Everyone runs to the RV to make an escape, and Tyreese hurriedly looks for Julie and Chris.  He finds them in a room upstairs, naked.  He angrily helps them out the window. The RV, driven by Dale, pulls over to where they are standing on a roof, just a few feet above the dozens of zombies.  They jump onto the roof of the RV and drive away from Wiltshire Estates.

Some time later, Allen immediately shuts down and refuses to talk to anyone, angry about his wife's death.  The group is nearly out of food, so Tyreese, Rick, and Carl head out to hunt.  Suddenly, as they hear something moving up ahead, Carl is shot, and he falls to the ground, unconscious.  The shooter comes out of hiding, apologizing, but Rick doesn't listen; he immediately starts beating up the attacker.  Just as Rick is about to kill the man, Tyreese yells for him to stop, and that Carl is breathing.  The shooter tells them about the farm he lives on, and that the owner of the place could patch Carl up.  Rick and the shooter make their way to the farm as Tyreese tells the rest of his group what happened.  They all get back into the RV and make their way to the farm, too.

Rick arrives at the farm and the owner immediately takes Carl inside and starts working on him.  After Lori and the rest of the group arrive, the man comes out saying that he'd patched Carl up, and that he is lucky to be alive.  He introduces himself as Hershel Greene.  He also introduces his daughters, Maggie Lacey, his sons, Arnold and Billy, and the youngest girls, Rachel and Susie.  Otis is the one who shot Carl, and his girlfriend's name is Patricia.  Hershel tells Rick that his group is welcome to stay at his farm while Carl heals.
