Allen is panicking on the floor, convinced that he’s dead, and tells Rick to take care of his boys. Axel, Dale, Rick, and Tyreese carry him back to the cell block, and Allen says he feels the infection working up his legs. Rick tells him that’s not how it works, and then he realizes that that, in fact, is not how it works. When the realization hits him, he knows what he has to do. He shouts to the group that they need to get him outside. He orders Tyreese to rip off his pant leg, and Allen passes out. Rick holds up an axe, saying he has to do something drastic. Tyreese tries to convince him not to do it, but Rick says that the bite will only kill him, and that no matter how anyone dies, they will already turn into a zombie. After several chops and terrified screams from Allen, his leg is off and he is quickly bleeding out. Hershel walks over, startled, telling Rick he’s done it all wrong. Hershel uses a knife to cut off some of Axel’s long hair to wrap around Allen’s leg to slow the bleeding. They all pick Allen up and carry him inside to clean the wound to prevent infection.
Tyreese heads to the gym to play basketball to blow off some steam. Michonne walks in and is impressed that he plays basketball as well as football. Tyreese talks to Michonne about how everything is going wrong, and she tells him she knows what she needs. She crouches down in front of Tyreese and helps Tyreese “relax.” Carol appears outside the window to the gym and sees everything, and starts to cry.
Later, Michonne is alone in her cell, talking to herself about her life at the prison. Andrea walks in and asks who Michonne was talking to. Michonne denies everything, and curses at Andrea after she leaves.
That night, Carol and Tyreese are in a bed next to Sophia’s. Carol slips under the sheets and tries to imitate what she saw Michonne do. She starts crying and says she can’t do it. When Tyreese asks what’s wrong, she just tells him to hold her close, and to move all of his things into a different cell the next day.
The next day, Hershel unravels the bandages on Rick’s hand and it seems to have healed well. But when he tries to make a fist, his fingers won’t curl all the way. Hershel says it still needs to heal much more before he can fully use it.
Tyreese is moving his things out of his cell, and Carol tells Rick that they broke up. Rick comforts her.
